70 pages ~ ★★★☆☆ ~ Digital Review Copy
Gold Light Shining is the debut poetry collection from Bebe Ashely; throughout this collection she explores topics of celebrity, obsession, sexuality, coming of age split across four sections. My favourite whole section was the closing “Fan Mail” while my favourite poem was definitely “Oh No!” it evoked such a longing in me to be out in busy streets again once its safe to do so.
What I particularly like about this was the author has suggested particular songs to listen to while reading each section, all are songs by Harry Styles so this could be a great way to try and convince some younger readers to enjoy these poems. I can’t say I’m particularly familiar with his songs but thanks to the magic of Spotify I was able to give that a go and it added a nice extra dimension to reading the poems.
Published back in October you should be able your hands on this fairly easily.
This post is kicking off a Random Thing Blog Tour so if you’re interested to hear more about this collection make sure you take a look at some of the other posts going up in the next few days! I can’t wait to find out what other people’s favourite poems were.
Thank you to Anne for organising the tour and the publishers for providing me with my review copy.
Thanks for the blog tour support xx
