Book Blogger Hop ~ 18th September 2020

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s prompt was submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews

What draws you in more: the book’s title, the book’s cover, or the summary on the back cover?

Out of these three elements I’d say the title followed by the cover. We all know we’re not meant to judge books by their covers but if I’m browsing online this is what I’m drawn to.

In person, in bookshops and the library I will turn books over to read the blurb but only if the title/cover has reeled me in enough to pick it up. Obviously that is kind of on hold at the moment and I’m not picking up every book that catches my eye so for now at least we’re stuck with getting as much info as possible from the cover.

What do you consider most when picking up a book? Is it any of the above or do you prefer recommendations/average star ratings?

  1. The cover tells you so much, I have found. You can usually determine the genre and if the cover and genre do not mesh, that has been an indicator of whether or not I will enjoy the writing, I have found. I’m not sure why that is but it happens every time.
