WWW Wednesday ~ 1st September 2020

The WWW tag runs weekly on Sam’s blog, each W stands for a different ‘What’ to summarise you’re last week in books.

WWW Wednesday

What are you currently reading?

Again, I’m still reading The Guilty Feminist, I’ve not really made much progress with this in the last week as I’ve been mainly using my Kindle. I’m making my way through The Rental Heart & Other Fairytales which is a collection of short adaptations or retelling of well known stories.

On audio I’m listening to How Do We Know We’re Doing It Right which I’m loving, I found myself trying to cram little bits in whenever possible yesterday and will most likely be doing the same today. In an audiobook first I’ve also started listening to Believe Me with my husband, this is read by the author Eddie Izzard; we were driving at the weekend through a lot of small village roads which made it difficult for me to read without feeling sick and he came up with this idea. It’ll probably take most of the year to finish assuming we continue to listen on long car journeys but its really nice to be sharing a book.

This morning I started House of Correction* thanks to my brain for deciding it was very awake an hour before my alarm, so far I’m really intrigued, I’ve heard great things about the author from some of my favourite YouTubers so fingers crossed I enjoy it.

What have you recently finished?

I completed Clap When You Land, this was a bit of a different one for me as the whole book is written in verse; I enjoyed it but I had just finished Silver Sparrow which was a similar premise of two twins who initially don’t both know about each other and with that fresh in my mind I was constantly comparing the two of them.

Yesterday I finished Ghosts* which was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020, I think I’d possibly over-hyped this in my head; while I really enjoyed it and gave it 4 stars it didn’t blow me away like I expected.

What will you read next?

Last week I mentioned The Midnight Library as the book I’d want to read next, I actually changed my mind and am now saving this for some annual leave next week so my answer is staying the same!

  1. The Rental Heart and other Fairy Tales sounds very intriguing, actually all of your books look really interesting. It sounds like it will be a good bookish week. Happy reading!
