Reading Rush 2020 TBR

The Reading Rush, hosted by Ariel and Raleen is back for its second year, running from 20th – 26th July. Last year users crashed their website several times with everyone itching to log their daily reading progress.

The main aim is just to read something but there are also seven challenges/prompts to try and complete and with this readathon its completely fine to hit more than one challenge per book. If you want to find out more check out this video.

Below are the books I’m planning on reading, let me know in the comments in you’re taking part and what you’re planning on reading!

Covers of the books in this TBR

The Unicorn Project
~ Read a book with a cover that matches the colour of your birth stone
~ Read a book that starts with the word “The”
~ Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of

I’m really happy with this triple up! I’ll be listening to the audiobook of this. For June’s birthstone I had a choice between pearl and alexandrite, I went with pearl as the cover of this book has a mainly greyish/creamy cover; obviously it begins with The and finally this is a bit of a niche genre as its relevant to my job and working in IT/technology and I should definitely be reading more books relevant to my job!

Letters from Birmingham Jail
~ Read the first book you touch
Bit of a different prompt but I decided to lay out all of the Penguin Modern Classics I own which I haven’t read, close my eyes, spin round and jabbed at the table until I touched one – quite glad I did this in an empty house as it must have looked a bit odd.

~ Read a book completely outside of your house.
I may skip this one depending on the weather. We are lucky enough to have some outdoor space at the front of our house but that’s really the only place I’d want to be long enough to read a book outside at the moment. If the weather’s nice I may try and read this out there as its quite short

Followers
~Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live
I live in the UK so had quite a bit of choice on my kindle for what to read for this. I’ve chosen Followers which is based in America and should also act as a good fiction balance to my other non-fiction picks.

?
~ Read a book that inspired by a movie you’ve already seen.
I’m completely stuck on this one so I’ll be looking out for chats on twitter to see what other people are reading, let me know if you have any recommendations!
