Book, Tag

WWW Wednesday ~ 10th June 2020

The WWW tag runs weekly on Sam’s blog, each W stands for a different ‘What’ to summarise you’re last week in books.

WWW Wednesday

What are you currently reading?

I’m still listening to The Starless Sea, at 18 hours I think this is the longest audiobook I’ve listened to so far. I’m aiming to listen to an hour a day and so far I’m slightly above that; overall I’m really enjoying it but can’t say I 100% understand what’s going on!

I’m also reading Life Is Big which is another slightly bizarre story where the characters include mice, Albert Einstein, Death, Death’s brother and an 11 year old who despite having a disease that will end her life early is scientifically one of the happiest people alive.

What have you recently finished?

Yesterday I finished Longbourn, a retelling of Pride and Prejudice from the perspective of the Bennett’s servants, this gave me all the cosy feels of re-reading an old favourite but with new characters and plot twists – would really recommend.

Since last week’s posts I’ve also finished The Magician’s Nephew and Dark Days which both got 4 stars from me and Too Fat, Too Slutty, Too Loud which I didn’t get on quite so well with but I think that’s partly down to the book being based on recent events which are now 4 years out of date and had several chapters based around people in the media I’d never heard of.

What will you read next?

Later today I plan to start The Wives which is released later this month and The Good Immigrant, I’d forgotten this was already on my shelves; this short works from 21 different authors so I plan on reading one(ish) a day for the rest of the month.
