The WWW tag runs weekly on Sam’s blog, each W stands for a different ‘What’ to summarise you’re last week in books.
I’m going to be a cliche and ask how is it June already?! Throughout June I’m taking part in Housecupathon because I just can’t resist a Harry Potter themed readathon but there’s also Galleyathon and the Magical Readathon ‘trip to Hogsmeade’ later this month so I’m currently cross-referencing challenge prompts so if you’re taking part in any of these please let me know in the comments so we can swap notes!
What are you currently reading?
I’m finally listening to The Starless Sea, I’m about three hours in and I’m enjoying it so far, its not quite what I expected but this is a bit of a mammoth audiobook so plenty of time for the story to take shape. I’ve also started The Magician’s Nephew which is very much a nostalgic read as I loved the Narnia series as a child.
From last week I’m still dipping in and out of Too Fat, Too Slutty, Too Loud, what I’m finding is that parts of this are based on recent events to the books publication in 2017 which can make it feel a little out of date.
What have you recently finished?
Yesterday evening I sat down to read the first few pages of The Boy the Mole, the Fox and the Horse and just couldn’t put it down, this is an incredibly beautiful book, full of pictures and just made my heart feel so full! Will be trying to get my husband to read it and one I’m excited to keep this on the shelves for the future.
Last week I finished listening to Go Set a Watchman, this was ok and fans of To Kill a Mockingbird I’m sure will enjoy the update on Jean-Louise’s life. Over the weekend I read The Ghost Factory, set between Belfast and London during the Irish Troubles we follow Jacky, having recently lost his father he’s trying to find a new direction in his life.
What will you read next?
I’d also like to start Longbourn, soon this is a retelling of Pride and Prejudice and was selected for June’s Lauren and the Books Patreon book club which is perfect timing as we just re-watching the BBC adaptation over the recent bank holiday.
