Off The Grid-athon & Stay Home Reading Rush April 2020

I wanted to post about a couple of readathons happening next weekend incase they’re of interested to anyone.

Off The Grid-athon is a readathon hosted by Justine @ I Should Read That and Shana @ Bionic Book Worm. The readathon runs quarterly across a weekend and the main aim is to stay off your phone/social media and just take time to read, simple as that.  The April portion of the readathon runs 12:00am 17th April – 11:59pm 19th April.

The Reading Rush started last July, hosted by Ariel and Raeleen. The full readathon is planned for this July but they have recently announced that they will be hosting the Stay Home Reading Rush from 16th – 19th April.

Being a bit of a social-media addict Off The Grid-athon sounded perfect for me, I downloaded the ‘Moment’ app at the start of the year and was a bit embarrassed by my screen time, particularly the time I spend on Instagram (I blame Stories).

I doubt I’ll stay off my phone entirely over the weekend, as I think its really important to be staying in touch /checking in on people at the moment but I am going to really try to limit my social media intake.

The Stay Home Reading Rush has released a list of challenges which are perfect for a bit of escapism, reading books set somewhere you wish you could go and one that makes you smile – I think I’ll be reading some Harry Potter to cover those as well as help towards the OWLs.
