Book, Tag

WWW Wednesday ~ 25th March 2020

The WWW tag runs weekly on Sam’s blog, each W stands for a different ‘What’ to summarise you’re last week in books.

WWW Wednesday

I’m currently in the middle of one of the strangest weeks of annual leave; instead of exploring the Yorkshire coastline we are, like everyone else in the UK, staying at home and trying to make the best of the current situation which has so far consisted of lots of films and starting to tackle the mess that is our front garden.

What are you currently reading?
My current audiobook is My Year of Rest and Relaxation, without my usual commute I’m trying to fit this into my new routine and remembering to listen to this while I’m cleaning. Last week I mentioned I was unsure I’d be able to get my hands on The Starless Sea, unfortunately (but completely understandably) the libraries are now closed and that will still be waiting for me on the reserve shelf when they reopen; in lieu of that I’ve picked up Nightingale Point which I got in a subscription box last month and is on the Women’s Prize long list.

What have you recently finished?
I’ve recently finished two books; Little Bandaged Days (which is a library book now on a little holiday on my bookshelf) we follow Erika as her family has just moved to Geneva; her husband is away with work more and more, she doesn’t speak French and she’s left to care for two small children and finding it increasingly difficult. Yesterday, I finished The Authenticity Project which was exactly what I needed, this is released next week and is a feel good story of a group of strangers brought together by a green notebook.

What will you read next?
With one week left until the start of the OWLs readathon this will depend on how long my current reads take but I’m mainly in the mood for more light-hearted fiction, so I might be reaching for Our Stop or The Last Laugh soon.

  1. I’m also moping over that one book in that one series I would love to continue but can’t because the library is not open. Then again, maybe it’s really time to tackle my humongus tbr.
I hope you have fun with the books you are currently reading at leas. Have a great week! 💛

  2. This is a very strange time. I didn’t realize how much reading I fit into my life when I actually went to work everyday with my commute and lunch break, etc. Now I work from home, so it is definitely weird. How are you finding My Year of Rest and Relaxation? I can’t explain, but that book rubbed me the wrong way. Hope you are able to enjoy your time at home and get some good reading in! 1. I’m struggling with the main character a bit, at the moment I just don’t like her and I find I really need to be able to get behind the characters at least somewhat to enjoy a book.
