During Very Merry Readathon I ended up starting six books and thought I’d split them up into their own little wrap up.
1. Read a book set during the holidays ~ Single All The Way
This book starts on the 14th December and follows Meg and Sally all the way through to the New Year so definitely set during the holidays, I’ve written a full review of this you can read here and I gave it four stars.
2. Read a book with a Christmas/holiday colour on the cover ~ Festive Spirits
This red, white and green cover is super festive, unfortunately this short story collection didn’t really wow me and I ended up giving it 2 stars as I doubt I’ll read it again. The stories were quite loosely attached for Christmas, one was a mother attending her children’s nativity, another a woman who has her birthday close to Christmas
3. Read a book with S-N-O-W in the title ~ Sorry I’m Late I Didn‘t Want to Come
I picked this because I thought it would be a nice contrast to the festive fluffiness of my choices for the first two challenges, I only got around 20% of the way through, I am enjoying it and will carry on I just wasn’t in the mood for non-fiction.
4. Read a book by the fire ~ Sabotage
Unfortunately I don’t have a fireplace at home so for this I had to commandeer the TV for a little while to play this fireplace video so I decided to stick to a short book, the most recent Pound Project release by Emma Gannon, I loved this and would highly recommend, if you’re able to get hold of a copy, 5 stars.
5. Read a book just because you want to ~ Reasons to Stay Alive
This is one of my favourites and I’ve been meaning to re-read it for a while so this challenge felt like the perfect excuse to pick it up, 5 stars.
Another Night Before Christmas – This book is an illustrated poem with a similar stucture/theme of Twas The Night Before Christmas, I can see this being a book I keep and get out every Christmas, 5 stars.
Make Do and Mend a Broken Heart* – I got the majority of the way through and finished it off on the Sunday morning, I’ll be putting up a full review up soon but I thought it was a great “new start” storyline that would be perfect for the new year.
